Chronology of cameras Foto-Quelle

This camera is closely related to the CX-6 Porst advertised in its catalogue in mid 1973.

The F1.8/50 mm "Revuenon" lens focuses from 33 cm ("macro") and has the same lettering as other Pentacon lenses of 1975-6. The camera came with a Foto-Quelle red leather bag, and two additional "Revuenon Special" lenses; a 2.8/35 mm and 2.8/135 mm.

The two additional lenses were made in Japan and were offered as a set for 169DM in Foto-Quelle's catalogue for 1975-6. Neckerman offered very similar lenses branded "Cosina" for 99DM each at the same time.

The camera is "semi automatic". Correct exposure is determined with a needle in the viewfinder by varying either the aperture or the shutter speed. Exposure compensation is equally uncomplicated. It is provided with a self timer, which was not always the case with Pentacon cameras. The shutter has a maximum speed of 1/1000th second, and  synchronizes with an electronic flash at 1/125th, or with bulbs at 1/30th. The camera also has a depth of field preview, and split image focusing, with a Freznel lens and microprisms incorporated into the viewfinder.

The reason for the exaggerated size and  height of the prism housing is not immediately obvious, but it does enclose the hot shoe, which up to that point had usually sat uncomfortably on the back of the prism.

The 1,8/50 mm lens weighs 215 grams, the 2.8/35 mm weighs 270 grams and the 2,8/135 mm weighs 420 grams. Quite a lot to carry!.
